GSS Ghana has moved into the education sector after being awarded the contract for the Lincoln Community School in Accra at the end of May 2014.
The Lincoln Community School (LCS) was founded in 1968 under the direction of two couples from the United States who had a vision for an American international school that would provide a nurturing education to children in Ghana.
GSS will provide catering at the LCS for all the students, teachers and parents, as well as any visitors during the school day. The meals are part of a well-balanced diet for all the pupils and staff, in order to promote healthy living.
LCS started with just eight students meeting in a rented building in North Ridge, near the current site of the Alisa Hotel. After a successful first year, the school rented an additional building and hired 10 teachers to provide education for grades K-8.
In January of 1970, LCS gained official recognition from both the Office of Overseas Schools and the Government of Ghana. In 1980 LCS moved to its current site at Abelempke. The school will celebrate its 45th anniversary this year.
GSS are currently assisting with the renovation of a local building in the catering premises at the LCS. This will ensure that all aspects of hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP), as well as safety precautions, are put in place for when GSS start the service in the pre-term teacher training in August 2014.
