BMMI Djibouti first to achieve international certification in EU Commission Guidelines on GDP

13th September 2018

BMMI Djibouti is now officially certified in the EU Commission Guidelines on Good Distribution of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 343/01), becoming the first organisation in the Group and across the Horn of Africa to attain this certification.

The certification was achieved following the team’s efforts for continuous improvement, including recently taking part in a comprehensive and rigorous training. BMMI Djibouti has been a key service provider to the World Health Organisation (WHO) for many years, and the training was essential to reinforce the needed knowledge for all medicinal products being properly stored, transported and handled under suitable conditions. It was conducted by a professional from the SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.

As BMMI Djibouti is involved and responsible in the distribution activities of such products, compliance with the requirements defined in the GDP Guidelines is fundamental. Being a certified company, BMMI Djibouti can ensure the appropriate competence and knowledge in handling pharmaceutical goods including hazardous products, identifying radioactive materials, products presenting special risks of abuse, and temperature-sensitive products.

Congratulations to the BMMI Djibouti team and our Integrated Management System (IMS) team for this great achievement.
